Opening Plenary: Substance Use Disorder M&A: The Deals, The Data, and
What It All Means

Monday, December 9 | Omni Resort and Spa Scottsdale AZ | 3:30 PM MST

In this session, participants will take a deep dive into the most recent trends in merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in the substance use disorder (SUD) market. To examine shifts over time and trends in deals, data will be broken down into narrowly defined segments: residential, non-residential, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), community-based services, etc., answering questions such as, What’s hot, what’s not, what’s next, and why?

Participants will explore external factors reshaping the market, notably changes in public policy, reimbursement, and treatment models. You will also explore why various segments in the SUD market are attracting greater (or lesser) interest from strategic and financial investors, as well as identify external factors emerging in the field and how these developments may impact consolidation strategies over the next 12 to 36 months.Time and again, digital health entrepreneurs find themselves at a crossroads in their evolution. A period where, just when they have iterated and tweaked their product to the point that they have a proven solution, they run out of money to ramp up marketing and implementations. This often comes at a point where early investors – and often founders – are getting fatigued and widespread adoption is still unknown, making it extremely challenging to raise the next round of financing necessary to build out the operating and sales and marketing infrastructure required to scale.
