What was so great about 2012, you may ask? Home Medical Equipment deals increased by two thirds in the span of a year: 71 in 2011 up to 107 in 2012. The reason? CMS started competitive bidding in a number of the country’s largest cities. Fast forward to present day, and CMS is pausing the bid program in 2019-2020 and possibly increasing reimbursement in 2021.

All of this means investors are showing interest in HME again. Dexter Braff explains more in a recent webinar with HME News.

“We believe we’re on the cusp of another 2012. We don’t know if there’ll be (a surge in deal activity), but if you made a bet that there would be, it wouldn’t be a stupid bet.”
