National pharmacy provider Walgreens divested its Bellingham, WA home health operations as part of long term strategy to shed non-core lines of business.  The location was acquired by EmpRes Healthcare Management, a WA based provider of senior housing including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, retirement communities, and more to better meet the needs of its residents.

Community Oxygen, a Maine based provider of oxygen and respiratory products and services was sold to Lincare, one of the nation’s largest providers of home O2.

Community Care Holdings, LLC has sold its subsidiary, Americoast Maryland, LLC, a provider of home medical equipment to Quadrant Management, a Private equity group that owns a provider of home health equipment and supplies. The acquisition expands Quadrant’s home health equipment business in the mid-Atlantic region.

As part of an effort to develop a dense service footprint in Arizona, Valley Respiratory acquired RTA Homecare, a respiratory-focused home medical equipment provider, adding 3 locations in Mesa and Casa Grande, Arizona.

Walgreen's - Vent patients

Several years ago, Walgreens began to divest non-corp ancillary community-based services, to focus predominately on home infusion therapy and specialty pharmacy. The divestiture of this specialty unit focused on home ventilator treatments was part of this basic strategy.
