Pennsylvania-based Pyramid Healthcare announced an expansion into Maryland with the acquisition of WaldenSierra, which provides residential, outpatient, and recovery support services in the state. Pyramid Healthcare currently operates around 80 behavioral health facilities and 6 autism schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
The Braff Group originated the transaction and served as the exclusive mergers and acquisitions advisor to WaldenSierra.
According to a news release from Pyramid Healthcare, Walden officials see their relationship with Pyramid as increasing their technical and clinical capabilities to accelerate growth in service delivery, an important factor given a high demand for services resulting from the opioid epidemic.
“We are excited about our relationship with Walden,” said Pyramid Healthcare CEO Jonathan Wolf. “They have a long history of providing quality, integrated, compassionate treatment in Maryland.”
“This is a classic example of an established regional provider expanding its network of care through the acquisition of a high-quality program in a new geography. This acquisition will afford Walden the opportunity to share their 45+ years of service delivery to other communities throughout Maryland,” stated Nancy Weisling, who headed the deal team at Braff. “Definitely a win for both organizations.”
